The classic cooks flip flop with our signature extended toe thong.  A slightly raised heel and firm arch support create a smooth flowing rocker.  The heel shim runs from the heel all the way to the ball of the foot, providing just enough extra cushion where needed most but keeping the toe box thin and responsive. This also creates an extra strong toe box eliminating delamination and a clunky feeling up front.  Checkered rubber outsole provides excellent grip in all the steep situations.

BUILD SHEET

  • 5 mil. insole
  • 4 mil. out sole
  • 7 mil. heel shim
  • lengthened toe thong

Why the long toe thong,  you say ??    When you lengthen the toe thong of a flip flop you position what we like to call the "fulcrum", the place at which the straps meet and flex, closer to the arch of the foot.  By doing this you decrease a large amount of flop and tighten the straps around the center of your foot, reducing the amount of work your toes experience. The result is a more snug fit, relaxed muscles of the arch, and a real A+100 for people who like great flip flops.

Shower with a friend !!!  Got Dirt Problems ?    Cooks flops are ready to be shower friendly and are happy to be scrubbed with an old tooth brush.   Freshen that strap liner up, scrub that thong.  Mud and Marsh approved. Don't fret about getting that leather muddy or wet. This tough as dirt leather will look amazing with time.

More on that custom Zig Zag liner.   A tribute to our old handmade flops we put together in the barn using a 1960"s Alphasew ZigZag machine.  We love that look so much so we refined it and rolled with it.  The straps are lengths cut from cotton and Jute rolls run through a zigzag machine creating a strong and organic seamless strap which is then sewn to leather. Soft and durable, these straps become bomb proof when backed with leather.

Making good

I told John I’d update my review if I received these, and indeed I did, so here’s me making good on my word.
A five-star review from me means a product and/or service was excellent. Neither were true in my experience. The product didn’t arrive as scheduled due to a shipping failure. This is IN NO PART a fault of Cook’s (“the company”). This was entirely on USPS. The reason I’m docking a star here is because it was up to me to alert the company of the shipping delay. My responsibility as a consumer is to choose what I want and pay for the product/shipping/taxes/etc. which I did at checkout. That’s it. If I need to do anything beyond that in order to receive the product, it detracts from my experience.
A four star review from me means a product and/or service was great. Neither were true in my experience. The sandals turned out good (more on that later), but I didn’t need a call from a representative (John) on a Saturday afternoon to explain a shipping failure. On that call, John told me I’d receive shipping info the following Monday. Monday and Tuesday came and went, and my previous review was written on Wednesday, after losing trust altogether and sending another email to cancel my order.
A three star review from me means I’m satisfied with the product and/or service. After cancelling and writing my initial review that Wednesday, John called me again to tell me he shipped the sandals, and provided me with the tracking info he told me he would send me on Monday. I spend a lot of time outdoors alongside beaches, rivers, and lakes. As a long-time rainbow sandals user, I can honestly say that I prefer these over the rainbow sandals I’ve owned in the past because the footbed doesn’t become a slip hazard when wet. The long toe strap actually does make a difference, and I spend less physical and mental energy keeping these on my feet when walking on steep hills or up sandy stairs with wet feet. In other words - the claims they make on the site are true. The natural footbed dries quickly and doesn’t make my feet clammy like other sandals. It looks like these are going to hold up for a good long while.

Alejandro,
When we ship flip flops with USPS, UPS, FedEx, or any other carrier we are trusting them to deliver the product. As soon as we put our shipping label on it and hand it over to them we are no longer in control of the delivery. Shit happens and your flip flops were lost in the mail by the United States Postal Service, not by us. As soon as we discovered your product was missing we called you and had another pair in the mail to you as soon as the post office opened on Monday morning. We have done everthing we can on our end to make sure you receive your product. We have lost time and money on your order unfortunately. Our margins are small, we are not thieves, we are not liars, we are aware that reviews are public. Do you think we would keep your money and not send you a replacement pair and have these reviews be public ? What if we actually did that ?? I have only been to California a few times and I must not understand the logic or the amount of theft going on for someone to take to the internet and leave us a review as you did. Personally I am happy to be able to comment on a review as this because it give me the opportunity to shine and promote the values I believe are so important in business. Truth, honesty, credibility and transparency. Thank you for being you Alejandro.

An honest review

Flip-flops are my go-to footwear of choice. Unless I am in the woods hunting/scouting or dealing with a muddy environment, I am wearing flip-flops. It is extremely difficult to find a pair that will last me more than 3-4 months before they start breaking down. Cooks hold up very well and are extremely comfortable. Now for the bad - I have an overly wide foot, so they could be a little wider for me. This hasn't stopped me from buying more. Comfort and durability still merit 5 stars. The other bad part, on another pair that I own, I seem to be allergic or sensitive to something in the material across the top of my foot. I have mitigated it by lining the area with moleskin. It could be something in the dyes or glue used during construction. This is something that you cannot fault the company for. I simply ordered a different style and all seems fine with them, so I still rate them as 5 stars.
